A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

It comes after Anne was taken to hospital on Sunday.

The royal is thought to have been walking around the estate with horses in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

The exact cause of her injuries is unconfirmed but it is understood they are consistent with a possible blow from a horse’s head or legs.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene and gave Anne medical care before taking her to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

The Palace also confirmed: “Her Royal Highness is receiving appropriate expert care.

“No further details are being shared at this stage.

“Her Royal Highness will remain in Southmead Hospital unless or until her medical team advise otherwise.”

The Princess is expected to make a full recovery and to return home later this week.

It is understood Anne will now miss several engagements this week, including the state banquet for the Japanese State Visit on Tuesday and a visit to Canada.

The Princess’ hospital stay is the latest health scare to the hit the royal family this year.

Both the King and the Princess of Wales have been diagnosed with and are undergoing treatment for cancer.

While Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, revealed her skin cancer battle.

Princess Anne is a key member of the King’s slimmed-down working monarchy.

The devoted royal has played an important role as she stepped up to support Charles after he took a step back from royal duties.

The princess, often dubbed the hardest-working royal, is known for her no-nonsense approach and commitment to royal duty.

At Trooping the Colour earlier this month, she was pictured expertly keeping her horse under control when it appeared agitated.
