SHE may be a member of the royal family, but Princess Charlotte is said to have her sights on a very different “ordinary” career.

The nine-year-old royal has reportedly said she wishes to become a nurse when she grows up, according to New Idea.

A palace source allegedly told the publication: “She’s obviously just a little kid but still, Wills and Kate swelled with pride.

“She’s such a caring little girl who also knows what she wants, so they wouldn’t be surprised if she does take on nursing as one of her big causes when she’s older.”

Princess Charlotte is said to have taken an interest in nursing after Prince William taught her and her brothers about the important work the NHS does.

Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward told Fabulous: “Princess Charlotte would make a lovely nurse.

“She has already demonstrated how responsible she is with both her elder brother Prince George and Younger brother Prince Louis.

“She has been pictured telling them where to stand and how to behave.

“She is also caring. Her mother’s cancer diagnosis has probably encouraged her to want to be just like the lovely nurses who have helped look after her mum.

“Imagine the second in line to the throne, instead of being a spare, having a nursing career even if it were just for a few years.

“It would make her a princess for the people like her grandmother Diana.

“William and Catherine are bringing up their kids to be down to earth without the entitlement of many previous royal children.”

It has been thought that Princess Charlotte will take on a role similar to that of King Charles’ sister, Princess Anne.

Meanwhile, her elder brother Prince George, ten, is second in line to the throne after dad Prince William.

Prince Louis could also undertake royal duties when he is older, if he chooses to become a senior working royal family member.

Prince Harry famously stepped down from this position in 2020 with wife Meghan Markle, and they have since relocated to California.

Fronting The Telegraph’s Royal Insight series, royal expert Camilla Tominey said William and Kate know that George “has his destiny planned out”.

However, the couple are eager to ensure they “get the balance right” with their two youngest children.

Instead of working as full-time royals, the expert suggested Charlotte and Louis may be encouraged to forge a career path like Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have.

Although Beatrice and Eugenie live in royal residences with their husbands and children, the sisters have pursued their own careers – but still appear at royal events such as Trooping the Colour.

She claimed: “[William and Kate] don’t want history to repeat itself and Prince Louis seem like a royal hanger-on and go down the Duke of York path.”

Describing Prince Charles‘ plans for a “slimmed down” monarchy, the expert added: “We might be seeing fewer royals in the future than we’re used to.”

Back in September, The Sun shared how Prince George is learning to fly aged just 11, suggesting he could follow in his father’s footsteps.

Dad William is a trained helicopter pilot who has flown for RAF Search and Rescue and East Anglia Air Ambulance.

The poignant meaning behind Princess Charlotte's name

PRINCESS Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015, at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, and we’ve seen her grow into a sweet “mini-me” of mum, Kate.

She was brought into the world in the infamous Lindo Wing, and weighed 8lbs 3oz.

Her full name – Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Wales – has some very sentimental ties.

Her middle names are those of both her late grandmother, Princess Diana, and her late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II.

However, George could have other ideas.

The eldest of the Prince and Princess of Wales‘ children was so excited to see a pizza parlour that he reportedly declared he saw his future working in the kitchen.

Desmond MacCarthy, who owns Wiveton Hall Cafe, near Blakeney, claimed that when the future King was shown the wood-fired pizza oven, the Prince George exclaimed: ”That’s what I want to do when I grow up!”

Royal author Phil Dampier claimed Wills and Kate are “unlikely to force Prince George into joining the armed forces if he doesn’t want to.”Historically the heirs do serve, with King Charles, serving in the RAF and the Royal Navy, while the late Queen Elizabeth was in the ATS.
